Ulinzi Stars head Coach Benjamin Nyangweso believes that his side will gain a lot from the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup.
The team resumed its training sessions on Wednesday ahead of their 2017 season that will kick off with a Confederation clash against AL Hilal on 10 February.
Nyangweso who was recently confirmed as the head coach after Robert Matano’s contract expired is keen to ensure the team performs well in the competition and he is confident that his charges will learn a lot from the continental matches.
-It will be a challenge but we have nothing to lose. As a matter of fact we have a lot to gain both as a team and as individuals taking part in the competition, he told KPL official portal.
-The team we have been drawn against is from North Africa, meaning that they will be tough opponents; you know how teams from this region are difficult to beat. My focus now is to ensure that we perform well, first win at least the first round and then see how to move from there, he added.
It will be the third time Ulinzi Stars will be participating in the CAF Competitions. In 2004 Ulinzi made it to first round of the Champions League while in 2011 they exited the same competition at the preliminary round losing by a 5-0 aggregate to Zamalek.
