After a long period out in the cold, the Pharaohs can dare to dream again.
Following failed qualifications in the two past editions, Egypt will look to set itself in the right place for another title, by winning over fellow North Africans Cameroon. Egypt started off the tournament slowly, with a draw against Mali.Wins over Uganda and Egypt however, changed the script and placed the one-time champions as a fourth favourite to lift the diadem.
Egypt comes into this one with a hugely talented squad, that could surprises any day. Mohamed Salah will be under watch, as the former Chelsea man has a staggering record of 28 goals in 49 appearances.
In the recent international ties, Egypt has shown great resurgence and immense potential to return to the helm of continental football.
The Pharaohs however, face a herculean task on Sunday, as they face the man referred to as the magician: Herve Renard. The 48 year old French Man has won the last two editions with two separate nations, and he has the arsenal to do it for a third straight time. Morocco as regarded as the tournament’s dark horses, especially after recording solid wins over Togo and Ivory Coast to progress.
Although Herve Renard has downplayed his side’s ability to win the tournament, he certainly is a man you just can't disregard.
This is the 27th meeting between these two sides. Interestingly, Egypt has beaten Morocco on just two occasions, who boast of 13 wins and 11 draws against Egypt. Egypt will be looking to progress, but with Morocco laying a trap on the night, anything is possible.
