Kenyan Premier League side Mathare United has confirmed that goalkeeper Robert Mboya has left the club for newly promoted side Kariobangi Sharks.
The shot-stopper's contract with Mathare expired on December 31 2016 and opted against renewing. He is set to link up with former United team manager William Muluya who is the current Sharks coach.
Mboya came through Mathare United’s Youth System (MYSA) before breaking into the senior team in 2014. He later became the team’s first choice keeper and his departure is a blow to coach Francis Kimanzi who will be forced to shop for another keeper to deputize Wycliffe Kasaya.
-I can confirm Mboya has left, his contract expired and he decided not to renew, we wish him all the best for the future, club CEO Jacktonee Obure told Futaa.com.
Meanwhile midfield pair of Duke Abuya and Alfonse Ndonye that was rumored to be heading to Sharks have signed new three-year deals with the club.
